Hiking in Crete - Samaria Gorge

Hiking in Crete - Samaria Gorge

One of the biggest National Parks in Europe is the 16km long Samaria Gorge.

It is considered one of the greatest attractions and natural treasures in Crete. It offers protection to over 450 species of plants and animals where 70 of them are endemic. If you are lucky enough “kri-kri”, the rare Cretan wild goat, will make its presence. The width of the gorge varies from 150m to 3m where the “Iron Gates” of 300m height are aggressively standing. However, if the long route is not for you, there is also a much shorter one starting from Agia Roumeli.
